Outright team winners 21-22 September 24 Hour Race
The Le Mans classic in September 2002 was a great  success. Twenty two drivers, mechanics and owners were to be dressed in Road Map overalls, fleeces and polo shirts for the event. The team entrant "Norfolk and Chance" was determined to do well. One of our cars the Invicta (number 3) owned by Duncan Arthurs and driven by Sam  Stretton and Patrick Blakeney-Edwards was one the overall team winners for the event. We congratulate everyone involved in the preparation of all the cars along with the drivers and the fearless owners who let their cars be driven flat out for such an enduring event.

Mark Butterworth is running towards his Lagonda V12 at 4 pm on the Saturday, after Sam Stretton qualified (number 44) in a fantastic sixth place on the start grid.
Note, detachable steering wheel and acrobatics required.

Fantastic start, Mark takes off in the V12 with a very loud roar coming from 12 cylinders and is immediately in fourth place.
Number 3 about to pass a 41/2 litre Bentley just after 5pm

Mark is congratulated by some of the team after having one the cylinder head gaskets  replaced during one of the several pit stops. Nick Hine who is leaning on the car also had just completed some extremely fast lap times in his Lagonda LG45 and finished in sixth place overall a fantastic achievement

Duncan servicing the Invicta for it’s final stint being watched over by Mark.
Patricia and Mike in front of Duncan and Barbara on the pit wall with 2 hours to go. Standing for 24 hrs on concrete is a little uncomfortable at times.
Three wise men
The very fast Talbot 105 of Stephen Curtis with the Tops club logo during it’s stint in the pits, finishing fourth overall.

The Invicta nearing the winners flag after a very long twenty four hours but every minute was worth it for this moment.
A few of the lads.
Sam Stretton and Patrick Blakeney-Edwards on the winners podium along with Hans Hugenholtz whose Shelby Mustang and Hartmut Ibing whose Maserati 450S and Tipo 61 along with Thierry Perrier in the Porsche speedster and Carrera six receiving the coveted laurel wreath and  the team cups. A truly international event that Roadmap is privileged to be part of and we thank everyone involved and look forward to next seasons events.
